Hngry bookmarklet, coming soon.

Fairly soon, you’ll be able to add restaurants to hngry using a bookmarklet (it’s a special bookmark that you can click on no matter what website you’re on, and it will open up a popup that will let you enter your restaurant info directly into hngry.)  This means that if you’re at a restaurant website and you’re at a page that has their contact info on it, you can click the bookmarklet and then just copy and paste the info into the popup window.  There you have it, a new restaurant instantly added to your list! (well, almost… I’ll be working on the instant part later on :) )

Just an idea…..but how about having it be a running directory…..so as people add restaurants we can get to them too…it will allow people to select from a directory …..just the basics though…..not a zagats or anything…

We shall see, we shall see… It’s going to have to get pretty big for a feature like that to be useful, because chances are, someone from your area is not on hngry yet. I’m also a little worried about the accuracy of the information input into the restaurant fields. It would really only take one person filling it up with wrong information to make hngry useless for someone else, because then the info that hngry will come up with may or may not be wrong.. if you put the restaurants in by yourself, you only have yourself to blame :)

Thanks a lot for the suggestion!

Ken does have a good idea; in fact, this is how I initially thought it’d work, but I soon came to the very point that you made Richard: the information may not always be accurate or how another user may want.

Maybe it’d be possible to allow users to simply browse what other people are “hngry” for, so as to provide a way of seeing what other cool restaurants are out there in places that they have never been. If that given restaurant has a link to a website, then there could even be a location nearby! Just a thought.

Very intrigued so far! Keep it up.

Yeah, Michael..I’m definitely thinking about something more in that direction… that would be informative about what restaurants people like in your area, but wouldn’t necessarily compromise your own personal list of restaurants. Cool.
